1 Remember to purchase your tickets online for Cinco de Mayo Fiesta—the deadline is today, Friday, April 28, 2017. This fun-filled event is quickly approaching on Saturday, May 6 at Blue Chip Casino, and you won’t want to miss out on this great evening that supports La Lumiere School.
2 The Academic Super Bowl team competed last week at the Senior Academic Super Bowl Area Competition in Kouts, Indiana. Hasan Nasar, Lolo Ogbuefi, Sean Russell, and Noah Schuster (our math team) brought home first place; and Laney Jansen, Anna Prykhodko, Lolo Ogbuefi, and Sean Russell (our English team) brought home second place. Congratulations on a job well done, everyone!
3 Our final Fine Arts Friday of the year is tonight (Friday, April 28) from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Fine Arts Building. Students will show off their art skills and parents are invited to appreciate them. All art forms are welcome. There will be an open mic for students to perform. Students, come and be supported by your community.

For some of our parents, this message went directly into their junk or spam folders. 6 Prom 2017 will be held on Friday, May 19 from 8 p.m. to midnight at Pottawattomie Country Club in Michigan City. Students may sign up at any time. Boarding students must submit their plans for before and after the prom to permissions. We are all looking forward to a fun night together.
7 The Parents Association will one again be taking a collection of gently worn uniform garments. If your student is graduating or has grown out of his or her uniform, please consider donating it to the School. All items will be sold at a discount to returning students at the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. All donations can be dropped off at the Main Office. Thank you for your consideration.
8 Boarding parents: Summer break is quickly approaching, and it’s never too early to submit your student’s plans for traveling home. Please email student itineraries as soon as possible to
9 Looking ahead: Our Academic and Athletic Convocation is coming up soon on Wednesday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Marsch Gymnasium. This is a required event and students should wear school dress with blazers. Awards will be given at all levels, including seniors. We encourage parents to attend. Also, mark your calendar for La Lumiere’s 50th Commencement Ceremony. It is only four weeks away on Friday, May 26 at 10 a.m. in Marsch Gymnasium. Please make your travel plans early. More details will be shared as the date approaches.
10 The Silver Lake Duathlon to benefit La Lumiere School will be held on Sunday, May 21, in Rolling Prairie, Indiana. This race provides a unique blend of cross country running and a smooth, paved bike course through the surrounding country roads. Participants may also choose to enjoy a scenic three-mile Fun Run/Walk on a trail through meadows and woods. Please pass along this flyer and share the news with your friends. All proceeds from the race will benefit La Lumiere School.
