Trips & Exchanges
Human qualities and abilities that make for a good life cannot be learned in an academic program alone. They come also from lessons in skill and character learned outside the classroom. That is why co-curricular activities are a crucial and required feature of La Lumiere School. They enhance each student’s education, strengthen relationships with teachers, and deepen the community bond.
Headmaster’s Cup Competitions
The School’s yearlong series of Headmaster’s Cup activities is a significant means by which the community becomes acquainted with new students and reacquainted with old. It is a major forum for celebrating La Lumiere and cultivating pride in place, for putting aside differences to compete as a team, and for keeping the history of the school alive in students’ experience. At the end of the year, when the banner of the winning team is unfurled, the room erupts with sound, from Family Feud to Minute-to-Win-It, from Quidditch to Quiz Bowl, all the excitement for a competition in which there is no concrete or tangible reward, just pride.
Spirited competitions, elaborate trivia, and Mr. Andert’s scavenger hunt all round out a week of two-a-day athletic practices and icebreaking activities. Take a peek at the opening of school video.
Crazy competitions played during halftime at football and basketball games including Spikeball, human surfboard relay, izzy-dizzy, and knockout.
Opening with Twin Day and closing with La Lu Spirit Day, the week leading up to Parents Weekend epitomizes our community’s fabric.
