As a college preparatory instruction, it is our responsibility to insure that every student can write at the university level once they are handed a La Lumiere diploma.
In order to accomplish that goal, an extensive study of grammar at the Ninth and Tenth grades improves sentence structure so that a student understands what to write and how to write it in order to be best understood. A challenging and rigorous reading program increases the understanding of complex reading and discussion that contributes to a strong foundation for analytical composition.
Paper writing is a true process. By isolating and teaching the components of a paper, a student understands the make-up of the entire piece, not just the hurried completion of it. Written work is edited and revised in a continuous process to allow for individualized feedback and attention. Extemporaneous essays and writing from AP and SAT/ACT prompts factor highly into the process. Papers can include various formats including the research process. |
