Computer Programming
The Computer Programming course will introduce the student to the logical, algorithmic structure of a computer program. Students will study the use of
arrays, loops, conditional statements, and creating programs using graphics. The student will learn to use methods and object-oriented programming using the Java programming language. Functions, methods, and recursive programming will be further enhanced using MSW Logo.
Introduction to Desktop Publishing
This is a course centering on the production of the school's yearbook, the Lamplighter. Students will be introduced to Adobe Photoshop, PageMaker, and
Imagemaster. Additionally, students will learn to select and develop a theme/sub themes, organize and layout pages, crop photos, design with
typography, and meet deadlines. Each student will be assigned an editorial job with specific responsibilities and will be required to complete all work
before the end of the school year.
Desktop Publication: Yearbook Production
Returning students continue working on the production
of the school's yearbook, the Lamplighter, with additional emphasis
on expanding their skills in Adobe Photoshop and PageMaker, the
introduction of Adobe Illustrator, copywriting techniques, and
advertising.
Web Research / Design
This course gives students a primer on how to use
the internet effectively as a research and information tool. We
learn how to design a Web site using various methods. Students
also gain proficiency with related applications, including work
processors and spread sheet applications.
