La Lumiere is a community of students, faculty, and families connected by a shared value system, focused on the preparation of young men and women for the responsibilities and opportunities of adulthood.
The principles of character, scholarship and faith are the threads woven through the La Lumiere experience, whether in the classroom, on the playing field, or in the community. We expect a lot from our students. Students' days and weeks are filled with school activities, helping them to structure their time, and make the most of their high-school experience. In addition to academics -- athletics, activities and community service each play an important role in a students' day-to-day experience at La Lumiere.
On our 144-acre campus, students can take advantage of athletic facilities, open fields, or computer lab. At the Sullivan Student Activity Center, students can relax, play games, or get a snack from the school store.
Weekly chapel programs help to develop awareness of current events and the needs of others. Recent speakers include a celebration of the life of founding headmaster, James Moore; and a talk with 1974 graduate, Paris Barclay an Emmy award-winning director.
Our Science Olympiad team, innovative Drama Program and Award-winning Art Department, are just a few of the offerings that set La Lumiere apart from other independent schools.
