The Laker Fund
Why We Ask
La Lumiere School, like all independent schools, relies on annual philanthropic support to bridge the gap between tuition and the true cost of a La Lumiere education. The cornerstone of our annual giving efforts is the Laker Fund, our school’s Annual Fund.
Contributions to the Laker Fund ensure that students benefit from exceptional teachers, small class sizes, and the individualized attention that defines our approach to learning. These funds also help sustain the traditions, programs, and everyday experiences that make being part of the La Lumiere community so meaningful. Your support strengthens every aspect of school life and directly enriches each student’s journey.
Other Annual Giving Initiatives
In addition to the Laker Fund, La Lumiere offers several annual giving initiatives that bring our community together in celebration and support. Each Giving Tuesday, the Heads’ Cup Giving Tuesday Challenge sparks friendly competition and collective generosity. In the spring, our Gala unites families and friends for an evening dedicated to elevating student opportunities. And every fall, the Golf Outing and Alumni Reunion welcome Lakers back to reconnect and give back. Together, these events strengthen our community spirit while providing vital support for La Lumiere’s mission.
Direct Your Gift
La Lumiere also offers supporters the opportunity to direct their giving to the areas that matter most to them. The following are student-centered ways you can direct your gift within the Laker Fund to meet your personal philanthropic goals. This flexibility allows you to align your philanthropy with your passions while still supporting the school’s most essential needs. No matter how you choose to direct your gift, it directly strengthens the student experience and helps La Lumiere continue to thrive.
Student Life
From residential life activities to our “uniquely La Lumiere” traditions, such as Heads Cup and the Taste of La Lumiere, a gift toward Student Life enhances the Laker experience.
The Arts
Support for The Arts here ensures our students have the proper resources to think creatively and present their work in formal settings, such as the Christmas Concert or one of our drama performances, and informal settings such as Fine Arts Fridays.
Laker Athletics
Sports play an integral role in the formation of character for La Lumiere students. Currently there are 15 varsity sports across three seasons. A gift to athletics sets up our student athletes for success in representing La Lumiere with class both on and off the field.
Faculty Support
Our faculty guides students as they hone academic skills and habits of mind, and we have high expectations for how all students will grow and learn. Meaningful learning takes place when the dynamic between teacher and students is close-knit, and personal connections foster a process which engages students’ experiences and interests to draw forth their best efforts.
Faith Exploration
Earnest exploration of faith is an integral part of a La Lumiere education. We are committed to serving those in need, whether that be through traditional volunteer efforts or innovative service-learning programs to connect with and learn from others.
Financial Assistance
We are committed to meeting 100% of every family’s demonstrated financial need, and we rely on the generosity of alumni, parents, and friends of the School to do so.
Areas of Greatest Need
Unrestricted gifts enable La Lumiere to address our most critical needs.
