Remembering Martin Luther King, Jr.

As Lakers reflect on the life and profound legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we remember one of his most salient messages: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that” (from his collection of sermons entitled "Strength to Love," published in 1963).

Today, students collectively discussed the impact of racism, no matter how subtle or obvious it may be, on our communities large and small. May our light shine ever brighter as we learn to honestly examine our attitudes and the roles we play as friends, classmates, neighbors, and citizens.
