Congratulations again to today’s graduating Lakers! By guest speaker Dr. Carolyn Woo, the Class of 2018 was reminded four important things at today’s commencement ceremonies: to remember the kindness of others, to manage their relationships with care and love, to enjoy—not to diminish—their successes, and to “go with God.”
As they advance in their educational and professional careers, Dr. Woo said, the Class of 2018 is sure to seek letters of recommendation. “But the most important letter of recommendation you can get,” she said, “is from the poor and marginalized. How did you treat them and what did they say about you?”
With those questions in mind, Lakers should remember to embody, as Head Prefect Lily Kennedy called them, “La Lu virtues.”
Graduates: cherish your La Lumiere medals as a symbol of the family you have gained and will carry with you always. Congratulations, Class of 2018 – we can’t wait to witness the great things you’ll do next!
