Co-Curriculars
At La Lumiere, learning extends well beyond the classroom. Modeling teamwork, leadership, and resilience is what co-curriculars do so well for your child.
Every Laker takes part in a co-curricular program each Fall, Winter, and Spring season. Programs run as an extension of the academic day, typically 4:00–6:00 p.m., with schedules set by each program.
La Lumiere’s theatre program trains students in every aspect of production — acting, set and costume design, lighting, and stage management. The La Lu Players stage drama productions in the fall and winter, plus a spring musical revue.
Teams of 2–5 students sharpen their research and study skills by diving into a theme that changes each year. Subject teams compete in Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, English, and Fine Arts, and students may join up to two. Teams prepare together for area competition.
Students design, build, and program robots to compete in a game-based engineering challenge that changes each season. La Lumiere fields multiple teams, each running its own robot from concept to competition. All experience levels welcome — no background required.
Model UN students take on the roles of country delegates, debating global issues in committees that mirror the actual United Nations. The program builds public speaking, research, and diplomacy skills, and prepares students to compete at regional conferences.
Students work alongside the Director of Athletics to run La Lumiere’s home athletic events, learning sports management and game-day operations firsthand. Responsibilities include venue setup, equipment inventory, scoreboard and public address, gate and concessions staffing — real experience in athletics administration.
Fitness allows our young leaders to experience structured time to train on their own terms. Working in small groups with the guidance of coaching staff, students follow workout plans they build around their own goals — strength, conditioning, and general wellness.
