The Arts

The Arts at La Lumiere

The arts are alive at La Lu. Our fine arts and performing arts programs give students room to discover new talents and give serious artists a place to go deeper.

Visual Arts

Coursework spans painting, drawing, sculpture, studio technique, and art history. Students at every grade level work alongside accomplished faculty who challenge them to develop their own voice across a range of media.

Theatre

La Lumiere’s theatre program continues to grow. Students in our Acting elective meet daily with the theatre instructor to study dramatic literature and build fundamental technique using Uta Hagen’s Respect for Acting and other core texts.

Our production tradition includes a winter play and a spring series of student-written work — original plays, staged by the students who wrote them. Involvement in theatre and music is strong, and production standards are high.

Fine Arts

Every La Lumiere student has room to grow as an artist. Introductory courses in visual and performing arts build the foundations of creative thinking and self-expression, while our advanced fine arts track prepares serious students to assemble a competitive portfolio for college art programs.

Our award-winning visual arts program is taught with real mastery, and students work across drawing, printmaking, painting, sculpture, and design.

Music

La Lumiere’s music program welcomes students at every level, whether they arrive with years of training or none at all. Concert Choir performs each semester and competes annually in ISMA, the Indiana State School Music Association contest.

Students can go further through The Music Experience, a Lumina program meeting Wednesday afternoons to rehearse, develop technique, and explore individual musical interests.
