A La Lumiere education is an investment in the holistic formation of your child—so they’re prepared for college and beyond with a solid foundation in character, scholarship, and faith. Our education provides lifelong value, but we understand that affording an independent school tuition can sometimes present a significant obstacle. As such, we diligently work to help qualified families close the gap between what they can afford and the cost of a La Lumiere education.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Each academic year, La Lumiere provides some form of financial assistance (need based or scholarships) to 1 in 3 of our students. Financial assistance decisions are based on the family's need, while our scholarship allocation is merit based.

La Lumiere uses a third-party verification company, Clarity, to determine the eligibility of families interested in applying for tuition assistance. Families interested in applying for financial assistance should log into the Clarity website and follow the step-by-step instructions provided.

Apply Through Clarity

La Lumiere’s Financial Aid program is designed to make education possible for all families based on demonstrated financial need and the availability of funds. La Lumiere is proud to use the Clarity Application to determine a family’s financial aid package.

This application opens for families on Thursday, October 12th, 2023. La Lumiere School will communicate your family’s expected contribution in early March upon completion of the Clarity Application. Clarity applications are due by January 13, 2024 and accepted on a rolling basis after that date.

Please go to the Clarity Application and create an account. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete and the Clarity Application is mobile-friendly so you can complete it from anywhere!

Financial Aid FAQs

When is the financial aid application due? ↓

The Financial Aid Applications is due on January 13, 2024. Applications submitted after this date will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

When will we find out if we will receive financial aid?↓

Returning families will receive their financial aid award by late February. New families will receive their financial aid award by early March and on a rolling basis after that date.

How is a financial aid package determined? ↓

Once Clarity and La Lumiere receive your financial aid application, they will use a standard calculation to make an assessment called the Family Tuition Contribution. The Family Tuition Contribution is an estimated dollar amount calculated by Clarity. The Financial Aid Committee uses this amount as a starting point from which to determine a financial aid award.

What if we have special circumstances that the committee should take into consideration? ↓

Any special circumstances should be written in the notes section of the Clarity application.

If parents are divorced or separated, who fills out the financial aid application? ↓

Each parent must complete a financial aid application.

What if we own a business?↓

Please be sure to submit all tax documentation regarding your business.

Is financial aid available for non-U.S. citizens? ↓

Yes, we do offer financial aid for international students. Please complete the Clarity Application linked above.

If we receive financial aid in our child’s first year, will we receive financial aid in subsequent years? ↓

You must reapply every year for financial aid, and your award will be adjusted based on changes in your family’s financial situation.

What is the financial aid waiting list? ↓

While La Lumiere tries to meet the demonstrated financial need of newly admitted students, it is possible to be admitted to La Lu but not awarded financial aid. Such students are offered a place on the financial aid waiting list. We offer awards to applicants from the financial aid waiting list if additional funds become available. It is not unusual for the financial aid waiting list to be active between March and August.
