Easter and Passover

Easter, a holiday celebrated worldwide by Christians, is the culmination of the Passion of Jesus
Christ and his crucifixion, death, and resurrection. For many Christians, Easter represents the
victory over sin and death.
Easter is a time for christians to fill themselves with spiritual reflection, marking a renewal of
faith and an opportunity to reflect on the teachings of Jesus. The resurrection is seen as a triumph of hope and faith over despair, and the holiday encourages Christians to reaffirm their belief in God’s power to bring new life.
One of La Lumiere’s staff members, Mr. Bucanan, said that Easter is a time for him and his
family to go on Easter egg hunts, and make some turkey or ham. He also said that his family
goes to a church service followed by a big lunch sometimes with family or friends.
Bucanan stated that “Easter is special because it gives him time with his family and
symbolizes the weather getting better, and it also symbolizes rebirth and a new start.”
Passover is one of the most important holidays in the Jewish calendar. Passover is freedom from physical slavery and spiritual freedom that comes with following God’s commands.
Finnely McCready, freshman day student, said to celebrate Passover, her family gets
together and goes to a temple to eat food. She said they usually eat matzah, gefilte fish, potato
kugel, matzo ball soup, and she’s getting brisket this year. McCready stated that she really enjoys getting together with her family and being able to spend time with each other and eat a meal together on this sensational holiday.
As Easter and Passover are celebrated around the world, they both offer a powerful opportunity
to reflect on the common themes of freedom, faith, and renewal. These holidays remind us of the importance of community, family, and tradition. We are able to reflect and honor the past, and embrace the present while looking forward to a future filled with promise and renewal through both of these remarkable holidays.
