Science Olympiad Competes at State for 27th Consecutive Year

 

The La Lumiere Science Olympiad program has just ended another season at the Indiana State competition—held at Indiana University, Bloomington—for the 27th consecutive year. Science Olympiad is a collaborative competition in which teams of 15 students are tested on their knowledge and inventiveness in 23 events in the areas of earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and problem solving. La Lumiere’s Blue team, comprised of students of all grades, qualified for State after placing third overall at Regionals.

On Saturday, March 16, the Blue team competed among 35 of the best teams from schools of all sizes throughout Indiana. They finished 11th overall, with sisters Haley ‘19 and Alexa ‘22 Harkness earning 4th place in the Write It/Do It event and other students scoring among the top ten in five other events.

At the regional competition held in Goshen on February 9, La Lumiere’s two teams, Blue and White, won a combined total of 19 medals on the day (detailed below).
