The 2021 Fall Magazine includes student creative work, a Year in Pictures highlighting life on campus, and updates from the school. In addition, the publication also features information on Commencement for the Class of 2021 and information about new staff and faculty at La Lumiere. The annual magazine is a great way to stay up-to-date with the happenings at La Lu.
The Forum, a new outdoor venue located on the south end of our lake and alongside the Academic Building, will serve all of our students and faculty in a variety of ways: as an outdoor classroom, a location to gather during advisory, a place to relax during an "in between" moment, and many more.
La Lumiere’s Head of School Adam Kronk announced that two seniors, Isaac Fielder and Lauren Jaracz, have been named Commended Students in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. There are about 34,000 Commended Students being recognized throughout the nation for their academic achievements.
We are excited to announce the formation of an Alumni Advisory Board at La Lumiere. Members of the board will support the school’s mission and be a trusted voice for new initiatives, strategic planning, fundraising, and overall connection to La Lu.
Shining Star, an awesome Earth, Wind & Fire tribute band, gave a fantastic performance overlooking Lake La Lumiere for an outdoor "Acorn Anywhere!" show! The performance was electric and drew over 300 attendees to our beautiful campus.
What an absolutely unbelievable evening La Lu Palooza was! Between an unprecedented 4:1 match in honor of the late Mary Lou Linnen, two dynamo event chairs in Britt Whitfield and Jacqueline Kronk, and a tent full of fearless revelers, Saturday turned out to be, by many measures, the biggest night in our school’s history
On May 28, 2021, we celebrated our graduating seniors at La Lumiere’s 54th Commencement. In an unprecedented academic year, our graduates found that we were stronger and better when we faced challenges together. At the end of the prior academic year, the Prefect Board selected the phrase, “Together, We Will …” as this year’s school motto. With this mentality, our graduates were destined to seize the opportunity to be on-campus and learning, together.
Helmut Jahn, the architect of the Marsch Gymnasium at La Lumiere, leaves behind a large collection of iconic buildings from his over half-century of design work. Jahn, who was 81-years-old, was struck and killed when out riding his bike over the weekend.
Jaren Jackson Jr. ’17 was recently selected as the co-chair of the Jr. NBA Court of Leaders, a youth leadership council of 15- and 16-year-old basketball players from the United States. Jackson Jr. will serve alongside the Minnesota Lynx’s Napheesa Collier.
La Lumiere alumnus Paris Barclay ’74 recently received the Directors Guild of America Honorary Life Membership Award. This award was given in “recognition of leadership in the industry, contribution to the guild and the profession of directing, and outstanding career achievement,” according to the DGA website.
