Welcome La Lumiere's New Interim Head of School, Andy Webster

Dear La Lumiere Community,

On behalf of the La Lumiere Board of Trustees, please join us in welcoming Andy Webster as our next Interim Head of School. Andy is joining us after an 18-year tenure as the Head of School at the Wardlaw+Hartridge School in suburban New Jersey.

A graduate of both Brown University and University of Virginia, Andy is a career educator and school leader. In addition to his experience as a Head of School, Andy has served as a history teacher, coach, advisor, Director of Admissions, and Upper School Head in his previous schools. We are thrilled that he has chosen to join our school community here at La Lumiere.

In the application process, Andy shared that La Lumiere appeals to him because “it is a school with a clear sense of its identity and a powerful sense of community, an energetic and committed faculty, and talented, engaging students who know their school is a special place.” He noted that the school has created “a vibrant culture that balances the need to challenge and care for its community members, to guide its students toward a clear sense of purpose and spiritual growth, and to work toward meaningful academic innovation while maintaining a high level of excellence.” His visit reinforced these observations and, in his words, “just felt like home.”

Andy and his wife Aurea will be moving to Kennedy House in early July and we will all immediately get to work preparing for the upcoming school year. They will be accompanied for the summer by four of their five young adult children, three of whom are in college and one of whom is completing dual master’s degrees.  We couldn’t be more excited to have them coming to our campus and for Andy to begin leading and guiding the school in his Interim Head of School position.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I Thank everyone in the La Lumiere community for your support of the Board as we have moved through this process over the last year. We look forward to an outstanding school year ahead and wish you all a restful and enjoyable summer.

Sincerely,

Daniel P. Walsh '95
