La Lumiere Senior Selected as a Finalist for Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship

La Lumiere senior Lauren Jaracz was selected as one of the eleven La Porte County finalists for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship by the Unity Foundation of La Porte County. This prestigious scholarship covers tuition for a baccalaureate degree at any accredited public or private university or college in Indiana and an additional $900 book stipend annually. Two of the eleven finalists will be selected for the scholarship.

Finalists for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship were selected for their academic achievement, service to others, extracurricular activities, and, to a lesser extent, financial need.

“Lauren is the total package,” Head of School Adam Kronk said. “She contributes in every way as a La Lumiere student and as a member of not only our campus community, but also of La Porte county. We are exceedingly proud of this recognition and, accolades aside, we’re simply grateful to have her at our school every day. She embodies the values we seek to instill in our students and live out as adults.”

According to the scholarship’s website, the program seeks to increase the number of Indiana residents who hold college degrees. Applicants are recommended by The Unity Foundation of La Porte County to the Independent Colleges of Indiana, who then works with a selection committee to award full-tuition scholarships to La Porte County students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement academically, participation in extracurriculars, and a commitment to service.

Recipients of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship will be notified in December. Read more about the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship here.
