Bookstore Basketball is Back at La Lumiere

Bookstore Basketball is back at La Lumiere! Our annual three-on-three basketball tournament kicked off this week. The tournament brings together faculty members and students to compete against one another for the glory of being crowned the Champions of Bookstore Basketball.

“It’s great to have everyone back on the Bookstore courts,” Mr. Andert, who has been organizing Bookstore Basketball for 24 years, said. “This is one of La Lumiere’s most popular—and most fun—intramural events, and it’s fun to see so many people excited about taking their shot at the title.”

This year, 28 teams are vying for the top spot in the tournament. The season starts off with round-robin play for two games, which gives all of the participants an opportunity to gel as teams. After the initial games, the bracket is created and the single-elimination tournament begins.

Last year, the tournament was unable to be completed due to the pandemic’s disruption of the school year. Our community is excited to have the tournament back because it brings day and boarding students and faculty together outside of the classroom. The competition is also another fantastic opportunity for our community to strengthen bonds and build relationships. No matter if you have played basketball for years or if this is your first time on the court, all are welcome to participate in Bookstore Basketball!
