In the week leading up to Thanksgiving break, La Lumiere’s boarding and day students held a food and clothing drive for the Pax Center in LaPorte, Indiana. La Lumiere supports the mission of the Pax Center, which is working to engage food insecurity and improve the health of our community through access to healthy and nutritious foods, community education, and advocacy.

"La Lumiere School has been a great partner of the Pax Center for the last few years, providing donations and volunteering when needed and being open to learn about and discuss food insecurity issues around LaPorte County,” Nate Loucks, the CEO and President of the Pax Center, said. “As we continue to keep LaPorte County well-fed and well-loved, it's with glad hearts we received the generous donation of food, toiletries, and gift cards from the students and faculty. Their generosity and kindness will have a tremendous impact locally."

La Lumiere usually holds two drives before winter break, but due to the adjusted academic calendar after Thanksgiving, our students held one large drive prior to leaving for the holidays. A component of La Lumiere’s mission is a commitment to justice and service. The ongoing partnership and support of the Pax Center is a testament to that element of our students’ education.

We, as a school community, are so appreciative to everyone who donated to this important and impactful cause that supports our community members in northern Indiana.
