Summer Session at La Lumiere

La Lumiere is pleased to announce the return of our Summer Session for 2022. This summer, our faculty will be offering Economics, Government, and Introduction to Judaism.

All courses in the Summer Session will run online from June 6 to June 17 and then on campus to finish the course.

Anna Malaika Tubbs, a Ph.D. candidate in Sociol­ogy at Cambridge University and a class of 2010 graduate of La Lumiere, has published her debut book, “The Three Mothers: How the Mothers of Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and James Baldwin Shaped a Nation,” which celebrates Black motherhood and highlights the impact it has had on America.

La Lumiere senior Craig Jacobson-Immelt, a boarding student from Phoenix, Arizona, was named a semifinalist for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program. Cooke College Scholars are selected based on exceptional academic ability and achievement, financial need, persistence, and leadership.

Giving Tuesday Initiative at La Lumiere Slingshots Past Original Goal with Match from Jaren Jackson Jr. ’17

Totaling a whopping $118,850 and counting, La Lumiere’s Giving Tuesday fundraising effort blew past its initial ambitious goal shortly after lunch on Tuesday. The initial goal of $20,000 was set to take full advantage of a 3:1 matching gift pledge of $60,000 made by NBA star and recent alum, Jaren Jackson Jr. ’17.

On a stellar fall day, La Lumiere hosted the first annual Fall Festival down on Sullivan Field. The festival was an opportunity to come together as a community, celebrate the success of the semester, and showcase some Halloween costumes, too! The activities during the festival ranged from playing carnival games, riding a mechanical bull, racing on a blow-up obstacle course, and climbing a rock wall.
