Summer Session at La Lumiere

La Lumiere is pleased to announce the return of our Summer Session for 2022. This summer, our faculty will be offering Economics, Government, and Introduction to Judaism.

All courses in the Summer Session will run online from June 6 to June 17 and then on campus to finish the course.

La Lumiere senior Quentin Funderburg ‘21 was awarded one of the three Northwest Indiana Partners for Clean Air scholarships. Over his time at La Lumiere, the campus setting has had an impact on him: “The campus of La Lumiere is in a forest, and this helps me connect with the environment,” Quentin said.

Jaren Jackson Jr. ’17 was recently selected as the co-chair of the Jr. NBA Court of Leaders, a youth leadership council of 15- and 16-year-old basketball players from the United States. Jackson Jr. will serve alongside the Minnesota Lynx’s Napheesa Collier.

Anna Malaika Tubbs, a Ph.D. candidate in Sociol­ogy at Cambridge University and a class of 2010 graduate of La Lumiere, has published her debut book, “The Three Mothers: How the Mothers of Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and James Baldwin Shaped a Nation,” which celebrates Black motherhood and highlights the impact it has had on America.

David C. Langley Exhibit at La Lumiere

La Lumiere is proud to present a collection of David C. Langley paintings on exhibit in the Main Office. Joan Langley, Mr. Langley’s wife, is a former member of the prep school’s faculty and three of his children, John ‘74, Elaine ‘80, and David ‘88 are La Lumiere graduates. His paintings are on display for our visitors to take in when on campus for a tour, but also for our day and boarding students to view as they go about their day. Our prep school views this as a unique opportunity to highlight an artist, who has a personal connection to La Lumiere, inspired by the beautiful scenes so close to the campus.

Giving Tuesday Initiative at La Lumiere Slingshots Past Original Goal with Match from Jaren Jackson Jr. ’17

Totaling a whopping $118,850 and counting, La Lumiere’s Giving Tuesday fundraising effort blew past its initial ambitious goal shortly after lunch on Tuesday. The initial goal of $20,000 was set to take full advantage of a 3:1 matching gift pledge of $60,000 made by NBA star and recent alum, Jaren Jackson Jr. ’17.

The reflection of the light glimmered off the still waters of the lake.
